Elon Musk on a post on X, said Farage doesn’t have what it takes to lead the party – referring to Farage as leader of Reform.

Farage said during an interview this was due to a disagreement over support for journalist Tommy Robinson.

Farage said that the comment was “a surprise”, but that he would “never sell out my principles”.

It’s worth breaking this down, rather than dismissing or accepting either side:

  • Musk hasn’t put any detail to why he believes Farage does not have what it takes to lead the Reform Party
  • Farage is dismissing the comment as a disagreement over one issue, Tommy Robinson, but there is nothing to back that up

But what are the motives of Musk in making that post:

  • Musk has fired from the hip, and simply got it wrong. However he has a significant track record in leadership himself tp make a judgement call
  • He genuinely wants the best for the UK, and for Reform UK – and he wants the party to have the right leader, in his view
  • He just enjoys stirring up British politics
  • Musk knows something on Farage that he can’t or has decided not to put in the public domain

So draw your own opinion, but please do so with a level of critical thinking – aim to understand why you believe what you believe.
